Maybe Still Human

In The Book Of Elsewhere Olivia went back to the Linden Street painting where Morton lived. She wanted to know how he was, if he was okay however she knew that he wouldn't be glad to see her so she brought him some gifts and jumped into the painting. What kind of shocked me is when Olivia kept saying that Morton was a painting and yes he might be slowly be turning into a part of a painting but he was just an ordinary human boy before. What evidence shows that is that when Olivia touched Mortons hands they were still warm unlike when she touched Annabelle's hands they were cold like she hasn't ever been alive. Could he still be a little human before he totally becomes a painting?
